Robert Kennedy, Jr. will be reviewing the historical use of mercury in medicine starting in the 1920s. The focus of his talk will be on the mercury-based preservative thimerosal, which is 49.6% ethyl mercury. He will be reviewing the research literature outlined in his book Thimerosal: Let the Science Speak and the associated illness related to mercury exposure. Mr. Kennedy will also discuss the role that our federal agencies have played in allowing the continued use of mercury in pharmaceutical products, including vaccines administered to pregnant women, infants and children in the U.S. and throughout the world. This lecture will be followed by a Q&A period.
