The father of two women abused by a US gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar has lunged at him during court.
Randall Margraves attacked Nassar during the sentencing hearing today after asking the judge if he could have a few minutes alone to speak to the doctor.
But he was tackled to the ground by police while shouting “Let me at him” as he reached his arms out to grab Nassar.
Earlier this week the disgraced gymnastics doctor was told by Judge Rosemarie Aquilina: “I just signed your death warrant,” as she jailed him for up to 175 years for sexually assaulting young women and girls – on top of a 60-year sentence for child pornography charges.
The punishment brings the end to a seven-day hearing that heard testimonies from more than 150 victims.
Nassar, who trained Olympians in his role at Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics, apologised to his victims who he said had “shaken me to my core” on Wednesday before he was sentenced.
He said: “Your words have had a significant emotional effect to myself and shaken me to my core. … an acceptable apology to all of you is impossible to write or say.
“I will carry your words with me for the rest of my days.”
Judge Aquilina told him: “Sir, I hope that — sir. I hope you are shaken to your core. Your victims are clearly shaken to the core.
